Too much of a good thing?

So I am disgusted with myself that I have not been posting books on my blog. I just get too busy. Bad excuse. So a friend of mine said to alleviate my guilt, just make a list of the books I have read and give them a grade and maybe a one liner. So here goes. They are in no particular order so you will have to read through to find all the good ones!

Beautiful Ruins by Walter.
Rating A. Really easy read and a good story. Felt like I was in Greece the whole time.

Stiletto Safari by Metz.
Rating B+. Funny chick lit story of a girl whose life falls apart and she decides to get away by volunteering in Africa. Yes it involves shoes too!!

Finding Me in France by Bobbi French.
Rating A+ ( and not just because the author is probably reading this). I love this book. Just read it. You will feel the need for a bottle of wine, good chocolate, and a plane ticket.

The Time of your Life by Ahern.
Rating Solid B. Typical Cecilia Ahern book. Good for vacation

The Trunk Key by Nash.
Rating B-. Novella about a person driving down the road and sees a hand waving out of the broken tail light/trunk of a car. What do you do?

Confessions of a Shoe Addict by Harbison
Shoe Addicts Anonymous by Harbison
Rating A. These books are too funny. Any book that supports working as a phone sex operator to support your shoe habit has my vote. Must reads for the summer

Reluctant Matchmaker by Bantwal.
Rating A- Brigid Jones with a touch of curry. Very sweet.

Don Juan in Hanky, PA by Martin
Rating B+. A must read for all my musician friends. Really funny!

The Confession by Grisham
Rating B. Typical Grisham. Pretty good.

Cloud Atlas by Mitchell
Rating A+. One of my top five. I need to actually do a blog on this books. It’s about souls. Do they die or do they just move from person to person throughout history. It’s about relationships and how they don’t change throughout history. Just read it. Too hard to explain. And see the move after you read it. It is fabulous

The Hare with Amber Eyes deWall
Rating B+. True story of a set of netsuke that potter Edmund DeWall has inherited from his uncle. It is the story of the netsuke moving from person to person since the mid 1800s and finally ending up with deWall

I’ve got your Number by Kinsella
Rating B+. I like Sophie Kinsella. I think she is funny. Missing engagement ring, found cell phone, cute man on the other end of the phone. You get it.

The Secret Keeper by Morton
Rating A. Typical Morton. Just read it. And all her other books too!

Life of Pi by Martel
Rating A+. Another of my favourite books. Again just read it. You will learn to love Richard Parker. And see the movie. It’s a feast for the eyes.

Canada Reads:
Indian Horse by Wagamese. Rating A
Two Solitudes by MacLennan. Rating C-
February by Moore. Rating A
Age of Hope by Bergen. Rating C-
Away by Urquhart. Rating C
The only ones I can recommend from this years CBC Canada Reads event are Indian Horse and February. I really liked these two. Indian Horse was very different for me but I liked it. And of course, our own Lisa Moore won for February!

Magic Hour by Hannah
Rating A. Get out the tissues. Kristen Hannah strikes again. Feral child. Struggling child psychologist. Sisterly love. Romance. Read it.

Speaking from Among the Bones by Bradley
Rating A. The fifth in the Flavian deLuce series. Love these books. The first is The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie if you want to start reading.

The House Girl by Conklin
Rating A- . I love a good civil war story.

Up and Down by Fallis
Rating A-. Did I do a blog on this. Maybe I did. Funniest book I have read in long time. Read it.

The Pigeon Pie Mystery by Stuart
Rating C- Disappointing

The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards by Jansma
Rating B+. I liked this book but its kind of quirky. It’s worth the read.

A Week in Winter by Binchy
Rating A. It’s Maeve Binchy. Need I say more.

Life after Life by Atkinson
Rating A. Just stick with it. I found it very intriguing. I liked it.

One Hundred Names by Ahern
Rating A. I think this is one of her best. A good summer read.

Very Valentine by Trigiani
Brava Valentine by Trigiani
Rating A+. I love these books and yes they involve shoes again. Story of Italian American shoemaker and her too funny new york family. You really have to read these. So amusing. Book three in the series comes out in the fall.

The Dinner by Koch
Rating B+. Almost as disturbing as Gone Girl but not quite as good. You decide.

The Art Forger by Shipiro
Rating A. Really liked this book. Loved all the forgery info. Think I could paint a Degas myself now! I really liked it. A step above the typical story.

When in Doubt, add Butter by Harbison
Rating B. not the typical Beth Harbison but ok.
